Transport / regeneration / development schemes

Here is a list of transport / regeneration schemes which are likely to impact on cycling provision in Sheffield. Also development schemes that should deliver improvements or are likely to impact on cycling provision (although these are harder to keep track of).

Schemes currently under construction:

Knowledge Gateway (Fitzalan Square to Brown Street)

Inner Ring Road widening scheme at Kelham Island

City centre 20mph zone

Schemes consulted on and approved:

Grey to Green phase 2 (should be delivered by end of 2019)

Clarkehouse Road parking ban (should be delivered by March 2019)

Portobello / Trippet Lane cycle scheme (should be delivered by end of 2019)

Schemes consulted on:

Woodhead Road / Bramall Lane Accident Saving Scheme

Park Spring Drive 20mph zone

Wincobank 20mph zone

Hurlfield 20mph zone

Schemes not yet consulted on:

A61 widening scheme at London Road / Broadfield Road

Wellington Street route – linking up Charter Row cycle route to the Broomhall cycle scheme

West Street crossing –  linking Portobello / Trippet Lane scheme to Balm Green and on into city centre

Mappin Street crossing – linking up Portobello / Leavygreave Road scheme to Portobello / Trippet Lane scheme

Development schemes:

New Era development on Bramall Lane (16/04859/FUL) – should deliver cycling improvements to the St Marys Gate / Bramall Lane underpasses

Winter Street / Weston street student flats development (16/03264/FUL) – could deliver cycling improvements to this junction and entrance to UoS campus

Retail development on Penistone Road (19/00037/FUL) – will impact on cycling provision on Penistone Road

Mixed use development on Ecclesall Road (16/04807/FUL) – should deliver cycling improvements to cycle route between subway and Ecclesall Road
