Steve, I'm sorry if you were offended by this article. It was written a few years ago and was intended to provoke the people of Barnsley into doing something about the appalling state of the Trans Pennine Trail. When you have had youths on motorbikes attempting to push you off your bike when you are riding an off-road trail, it tends to leave a bad impression. The dispaaraging remarks about Leeds and Barnsley were intended to be taken in a spirit of friendly local rivalry.

A recent visit showed that sadly, the trail to the North of Barnsley is still as bad as it ever was. We do of course accept that the problems are caused by a minority of Barnsley-ites.

Not sure I like your comments with reference to Barnsley folk although I`m originally from Leicester i`m married to a Barnsley person. Everywhere as its minority of people I believe you think the majority of Barnsley folk are.

Sorry will not be using your site again due to your attitude.

You can report potholes and all sorts of other problems through FixMyStreet.
http://www.fixmystreet.com/
Just enter the approximate location (street and town or street and postcode), pan and zoom the map, click on the right location, and describe the problem. The website automatically figures out which council to send it to.

Worksop: Other than the lovely canal path alongside the Chesterfield Canal and the fantastic Clumber Park, Worksop isn't really a cycling mecca. For example, I can't think of any ASL's and marked cycle paths. Sheffield stands or other parking places are very sparse around the town centre although there are quite a few at the back of the Priory Shopping Centre. I've never been able to find bike stands at the main Tesco store and the ones at Sainsburys are situated quite a way from the main entrance. There are about 5 individual lockable bike stores at the train station but I've never seen any of them free. They might be used by station staff but I guess that regular commuters use them and leave 'their one' locked when its not in use.

The road surface on the route I use for commuting to Sheffield is very varied. Between Shireoaks, Thorpe Salvin, Harthill and Killamarsh there are some deep and dangerous potholes. To be fair I should report them to the council but I don't really know which one for that area: Bassetlaw , Rotherham or Sheffield? Any advice on where exact boundaries lie would be useful.
